1721 London Porter is one for the sipper. The mixture of coffee, caramel and chocolate from the malt bill is delicately underpinned by a subtle fruitiness provided by the traditional English Ale yeast. You’ll be reaching for another before the foam has even settled. Drink this beer fresh or come back to it in a year, each time you try it will be a whole new experience.

Description

Porter is the original craft beer! It began life quenching the thirst of the ‘street porters’ in foggy London town and quickly became the main focus of almost every brewer in the Western hemisphere. Each brewery tweaking their recipe to beat the competition in the race for the perfect porter. Nowadays no single sample emerges as the epitome of porter because over the (almost) 300 years since porter emerged it has evolved and changed with the times but one thing is for sure, if you have a good one, you’ll never forget it!

1721 London Porter is a tip of the cap to generations of porter pioneers. This recipe has a secret weapon that many brewers neglect in modern examples: Brown Malt. This provides our beer with a complex chocolatey taste that is chased with a subtle smokey character. The traditional Northern Brewer hops in this recipe provide it with the perfect amount of bitterness to complement the mighty malt bill.

Kit includes all the grain and hops that you’ll need to make this traditional London porter along with a package of English ale yeast for fermentation. We have also included an instructional card for a worry-free brew day.

This is the second kit I have bought, again all the stuff you need is included. No having couple of grams of grain or hops that you don’t know what to do with. The kit also comes with enough labels for your bottles.

I bought two of the Porter packs as it doesn’t take any extra time to make double the amount. This proved a very good decision as the Porter is such a good, well balanced brew. I did worry about having so many bottles as while I do like a Porter it’s not something I drink very often, but I’m now going through it at such a rate I’ll have to put a bottle aside for my brother at the end of lockdown.
After such good results I’ve now got a couple of packs of Blonde Bombshell to brew.
